Ashlé Dawson is best recognized from when she captivated America as a Top 4 finalist on FOXs smash TV show So You Think You Can Dance, but her experience dancing stretches far beyond that of her versatile performances in Season 1. With 10 years of teaching experience under her belt, after her appearance on SYTYCD, Ashlé continued on traveling the world as an internationally acclaimed and respected performer, choreographer, and instructor while being based in Los Angeles. Ashlé was a featured personality on MTV’s “MADE” where she appeared as herself , the “Latin Dance Coach.” One of her most exciting accomplishments was having the honor to perform as a member of the prestigious Cirque Du Soleil. You may have caught Ashlé on other popular TV shows including American Idol Gives Back, Americas Got Talent as a featured dancer. She has danced and choreographed for many award shows including the Latin Grammys and Latin Billboards. Ashlé is currently dancing and choreographing for new Bachata artist & tropical music sensation, Prince Royce. You can see her in the “Stand By Me” video as well as performing with Royce in “Los Premios Juventud” on Univision. Dawson has been blessed to share the stage with many incredible artists including Don Omar, Victor Manuelle, Gloria Estefan, Andre 3000, Zion, Mickey Rooney, Olga Tannon, Flex, Wisin y Yandel, Aventura, Fonseca, and Juelz Santana to name a few.
Ashlé is a frequently requested guest performer and instructor in countries such as Singapore, Colombia, Chile, Switzerland, Cyprus, Venezuela, El Salvador, Mexico, and all over South and Central America and Puerto Rico. Across the United States, Ashlé has rapidly become an in demand choreographer for corporate industrials such as Audi and Paul Mitchell, resident and international shows, dance festivals, and academies. Dawson is currently working as a part time guest instructor and choreographer in Costa Rica. This spring, under the production of her company “Breaking Conformity Productions”, she will be previewing an original show displaying her unique choreography and directing style. Ashlés work is extremely identifiable to say the least, incorporating a distinct movement and fusion of styles ranging from Contemporary, Salsa, Hip Hop, Jazz, Afro Cuban, Reggaeton, Waackin, and many others, all with a strong extensive background in Ballet.
Though Ashlé has garnered herself numerous opportunities teaching around the world, she has never ceased to maintain a certain humility that has become her trademark. Now having returned to her home city, NYC where she is on Guest Faculty at the famous Broadway Dance Center, she regularly spends her time learning new styles and perfecting old ones, searching tirelessly for new and unique forms of artistic expression through dance. Her extensive training and versatility make her one of the most in demand choreographers and adjudicators of her generation. Her workshops are beyond inspirational and leave dancers with a deeper fulfillment of their passion for dance, giving more than just a combo. Ashlé is the proud director of “Ashlé & Co’., a pre-professional dance company based in NJ and is also the Co-founder of “IF” Innovation Foundation ,The Intensive. Ashlé has a passion for teaching any who are hungry and willing to learn.
