Christine Cornish Smith

Biography

Christine Cornish Smith is a New York City based actor, singer, and dancer. Most recently, she was seen as Bombalurina in the current revival (original cast) of CATS on Broadway. For her work in CATS, she was nominated for “Best Female Performance in a Broadway Musical” for the 2017 Chita Rivera Awards. A cum laude graduate of the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (BFA musical theater), she is a former principal dancer with the Dallas Metropolitan Ballet. Credits include: the original work of Agnes DeMille in Oklahoma! at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, original revival tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat helmed by director/choreographer, Andy Blankenbuehler, Laurey Williams in Susan Stroman’s Oklahoma! at the MUNY, Sheila Bryant in A Chorus Line at the Riverside Theater, and Mimi in Guys and Dolls at the Goodspeed Opera House. She has also performed as a principal vocalist with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic and the Phoenix Symphony. She also appeared in the 25th Anniversary Concert performance of Crazy For You at Lincoln Center, directed and choreographed by Susan Stroman, as well as performed “The Girl in the Yellow Dress” from Contact in an evening honoring Andre Bishop at the Lincoln Center Theater, also led by Stroman. She has been featured on Playbill.com, Broadway.com, Inside Dance Magazine, and BroadwayBox as one of “Incredible Debuts” of the 2016 Broadway season. Up next, Christine will be in the revival of “Crazy For You” coming to Broadway in 2018. Aside from performing, Christine has a huge passion for teaching the next generation of thoughtful, generous, and skilled performers and dancers. She feels that a quality teacher/mentor is the key to success and is constantly finding new and better ways to communicate the importance and beauty of the arts to her students.
