Judson Emery

Judson Emery began dancing at the age of 8 in Jazz, Hip Hop and Ballet Classes at Atlas School of Dance. From there he joined the Teen Dance Company in Mountain View. A pre-professional dance company that focused on Contemporary and Modern dance that brought in such choreographers as Jason Parsons, Mia Michaels, Cindy Salgado, Robert Battle, Napoleon and Tabitha D’umo and Jenny Backhaus to name a few. He then trained for 2 years at Dance Theater International with Xavier Ferla. Judson was also part of the student-choreography program at TDC, which focused on introducing dancers to various choreographic techniques. At the age of 16 he travelled to Lima, Peru with the Mark Foehringer Dance Project SF to perform in the Danza Nueva-XX Festival. The same summer he was invited by Alonzo King to participate in his week long Professional Workshop. Other summer workshop programs include The Juilliard School, San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, and The LINES Ballet School where he met Amy Raymond and worked extensively with her on improv techniques many summers after. After graduating high school Judson began to teach at Nor Cal Dance Arts, and together with Tawnya Kuzia started their company “The Collective” which has been an integral part of his being able to create dance. He then began assisting the likes of Tyce Diorio and Brian Friedman for The Pulse On Tour along with choreographing the Opening Number for the convention’s summer nationals. He also is a judge for Open Call Dance Competition. With Brian, he has had the opportunity to assist through the country and abroad, as well as on the TV show The X-Factor UK in London. While there he taught at Studio 68 London and at The Urdang Academy. Within the commercial dance world, Judson has worked with such artists as Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Adam Lambert, Carly Rae Jepson for the American Idol Finale, One Republic, Cher Lloyd and Florence and The Machine for the MTV VMA’s. He has also worked on Glee, The Oscars, The X-Factor USA, America’s Got Talent, The Emmy Awards, The Voice, Jerry Lewis Telethon, VH1 DIVAS Live, and the Kid Choice Awards. Which included work by choreographers Jeri Slaughter, Brian Friedman and Tucker Barkley, Miguel Zarate, Kevin Maher, Fatima, Brooke Lipton and Zach Woodlee, Nick Florez and RJ Durell, Travis Wall, Rob Ashford, Tessandra Chavez, Spencer Liff, Tyce Diorio, and Todrick Hall. Judson has taught around the USA at various studios and continues to teach and choreograph as it is his passion to inspire a new generation of artists. He currently is living in Los Angeles and is caught subbing at Millennium and teaching at Movement Lifestyle. His goal is to continue to learn as much as possible to assist him in educating those who seek dance.
