Fast rising as one of the most promising and most trusted vocal coaches in Los Angeles, Ryland Shelton has found success reaching clients’ peak performances on studio recordings and on-set, as well as developing the careers of performers all over the country. His emphasis on sustainability and technique while bringing out the truest expression of the individual has earned him loyalty among clients, and his efficiency and collaborative spirit have made him a favorite among producers and directors.
Clients include Sunset Pictures’ 2018 release Crazy For The Boys (starring Ana Golja and Cheri Oteri) on which he collaborated with choreographer Eden Shabtai and director Martin Guigui; recording artist OMRIII (Rellek Records); actress Florence Hartigan (Phoenix Forgotten); actress Danette Wilson (Star Thieves); All For One Media (girl-group Drama Drama casting and development, with producer Brian Lukow), and more.
Trained in vocal performance at New York University’s Steinhardt School, Ryland’s journey as a performer, himself, has taken him from New York to Los Angeles and everywhere in between – from Hotel Cafe and the House of Blues to Fantasy Studios and Carnegie Hall. On top of his rooted technique, his intuition and unique ability not only to recognize but to communicate and develop the strengths of the performances in front of him led him to his path as a coach.
In addition to his work in entertainment, his ground-breaking vocal development program designed specifically for members of the transgender community, TrueVoice, has been selected by the nation’s first and largest transgender community support and education facility, Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Trans*Lounge, as a course offering in addition to their speech therapy and other transition support tools. He leads small group workshops there weekly.
