Tim Ransom

Tim Ransom is an American film, television and theater actor, as well as a theater producer, active in both fields for over 35 years. After graduating from Princeton High School with a love for acting, Tim moved to New York City to work as an intern at the famed Off-Off Broadway theater institution, The Ensemble Studio Theater. It was there that Tim met many of the people he would go on to form the prestigious Naked Angels theater company with, where he cut his teeth on scores of productions with fellow Angels Jon Robin Baitz, Kenneth Lonergan, Lili Taylor, Matthew Broderick and Joe Mantello.

Additionally, he appeared on stage in the original casts of BEEN TAKEN (Ensemble Studio Theater), I’M NOT RAPPAPORT (American Place Theater), FUN & NOBODY (Manhattan Punchline), CAROL MULRONEY (Huntington Theater Company) and NO WAKE (59e59), as well as many original new works at Naked Angels on both coasts. In other mediums, Tim has appeared in over four dozen television shows, mini-series, movies-of-the-week and pilots, starting with PBS’ AMERICAN PLAYHOUSE, going on to do notable recurring roles such as fan favorite mutant Jack on STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE 9; arch-villain Frankie Dwyer on NASH BRIDGES; Robert F. Kennedy in the award winning mini-series A WOMAN NAMED JACKIE and Tom Custer in the highly regarded mini series SON OF THE MORNING STAR. More recent appearances include SCANDAL, THE HANDMAIDS TALE, NARCOS, and PREACHER. Over the years he has also appeared in films such as DESPERATELY SEEKING SUSAN, THE DRESSMAKER, VITAL SIGNS, COURAGE UNDER FIRE, OUTBREAK, WIN WIN, LBJ, and the soon to be released, THE MANDELA EFFECT, among others.

As a producer, Tim has produced numerous plays, short films and charity events, including major fundraisers for Project ALS in New York and Los Angeles. Most notably and to his great pride, Tim served as the Artistic Director of Naked Angels from 2001 to 2005, where he revitalized the company and created programs that carry on to this day. Under his leadership the company produced dozens of main-stage plays, workshops and readings. Two of the productions (TAPE, MESHUGAH) were chosen as Top 10 Plays of the year by Time Out New York. Tim lives in Los Angeles where he has been carving out a living as an actor since 2010, working primarily in television and film.

Currently, audiences can see Tim guest starring in THE ROOKIE SEASON 5 and as a Major Recurring Guest Star on NBC's hit drama LAW & ORDER: ORGANIZED CRIME SEASON 2.
